  • An East Bay couple in San Leandro celebrated the restoration of their SNAP benefits at the East Bay Center for the Blind holiday party Saturday. They said renewed aid rekindled hope for their wedding while new federal rules may soon limit access for many.  ABC7

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Internal records from last summer showed a communication breakdown in Oakland public schools when tests revealed dangerous lead levels in drinking water without timely alerts to principals. The district later updated its testing and notification systems to better protect student health.  The Oaklandside

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • BART reported a disabled train outside West Oakland Station caused delays for trains heading toward SFO and the East Bay. The agency said the Red line was cancelled and Green and Blue lines rerouted to MacArthur, with riders advised that transfers may be needed until a rescue train arrives.  KTVU

SPORTS NEWS

  • After beating the Mavericks on Thursday, the Warriors boosted confidence with center-forward Al Horford returning and guard De’Anthony Melton finding his shot. They now head east for games against the Raptors (today), Nets Monday, and Hornets Wednesday.  San Francisco Chronicle
