- ➤ Forecasters warn that high tides, coastal flooding, and dangerous surf will affect the Bay Area beginning Friday and lasting through Sunday — low-lying neighborhoods may see water rise up to 1.4 feet while strong rip currents and sneaker waves heighten the risk — and first responders advise people to avoid the water. - ➤ The East Bay Regional Park District plans a 1.4-mile mountain bike trail at Wildcat Canyon amid claims that staff held secret meetings with mountain bikers and donors — critics worry the plan will hurt the park's calm and natural look.
