  • Oakland schools achieved principal stability this year by adding only six new principals while all middle and high school leaders returned—ensuring a steady leadership environment for students. However, many principals fear upcoming $100M budget cuts will force staff layoffs and reduce support—threatening to reverse these gains.  The Oaklandside

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Monday, November 24th, an equipment problem near West Oakland station disrupted BART service as it halted all Red Line trains + suspended part of the Green Line, prompting riders to use alternate shuttle and transfer options.  ABC7

  • Bay Area airports, including Oakland, are urging passengers to arrive early—allowing extra time for check-in, security, and weather delays as Thanksgiving travel nears. Local officials expect a quarter-million travelers to pass through Oakland—and advise planning ahead for long lines.  KTVU

SPORTS NEWS

  • Bay FC is nearing a decision to hire a new head coach after Albertin Montoya stepped down, and director Kay Cossington said the team has narrowed the field to a few experienced candidates — each with a strong background in women’s professional soccer.   • Cal fired coach Justin Wilcox after he finished with a 48—55 record in nine seasons, with general manager Ron Rivera announcing his dismissal last Sunday.
