EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Oakland Unified School District board approved an early retirement plan at its November 12 meeting to let employees over 55 who have worked for at least five years resign by June 30 and help cut $100 million from next year’s budget. Eligible employees must apply by January 29 and the board will review savings by February—if the plan does not meet its goals, it may be rescinded.  The Oaklandside

  • The 49ers face a quarterback debate as backup Mac Jones has played well while Brock Purdy sits out with a turf toe, sparking comments from fans and ex-players over who should start.
