CULTURE NEWS

  • Twin DJs Carlos and Beto Concha of OtebNSolrac mix Latin rhythms and EDM to honor their Peruvian roots and energize Oakland crowds. They started in a high school jazz band—rescued by Carlos Santana's help—and will release new music after their West Coast tour wraps up.  KTVU

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Oct 12, photographer Matthew Raifman spotted a rare all-white fawn at a public park in eastern Alameda County during a family hike. Wildlife officials say the deer likely has albinism—rare in deer—and ask visitors to give it plenty of space.  SFGate
  • On Saturday morning, PurpleAir sensors recorded unhealthy air quality across the Bay Area while motorists in San Francisco saw a thick haze likely mixed with smoke from agricultural burns. An east wind from the Central Valley spread these particles during burn season — AirNow showed moderate readings and no public alerts were issued.  San Francisco Chronicle

SPORTS NEWS

  • Cal recovered a fumble in the end zone late in the fourth quarter to hold off North Carolina's comeback attempt—helping secure a 21-18 win at Memorial Stadium on Friday.  San Francisco Chronicle
  • Golden State Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski became a vital connector on the court after returning from surgery and boosting his performance last season. He now plays significant minutes with veteran teammates Curry, Green, Butler and Horford—Coach Kerr said his role is key for both today’s rotation and future plans.  San Francisco Chronicle
  • The Warriors ended preseason play on Friday with a 106-103 loss to the Clippers while playing without Jimmy Butler, Moses Moody, and Jonathan Kuminga. The absence of these regulars may have affected Golden State as the Clippers worked strongly throughout the game.  San Francisco Chronicle
