- ➤ A new global map on BlueCorridors.org uses 30 years of satellite data to track eight whale species and their migration routes so scientists and policymakers can pinpoint where stronger protections are needed. Lawmakers will soon consider expanding a ship-speed reduction program in Bay Area waters after at least 25 whale deaths marked a deadly year—raising concerns over increased threats from heavy shipping and climate change.
