Scientists confirmed three new deep sea snailfish species were discovered off the California coast after years of study.

BART said it cannot promise to prevent another systemwide outage as it manages risks in its large transit system, while a spokesperson noted that guaranteeing no future outages is impossible.
Officials have not responded to repeated interview requests following the third outage since 2019.
The California Legislature passed a bill that would let Bay Area voters decide on long-term funding for transit agencies—if Gov. Newsom signs it by Oct.
12, the measure will go to the November ballot in five counties. The plan sets a default sales tax of a half-cent—1 cent in San Francisco—and includes cost-cutting rules to help keep agencies like BART and Muni running.
