  • The Oakland Black Cowboy Association may cancel its October 4 parade due to a funding shortfall and is asking for community help via GoFundMe—expenses like stage, canopy, porta potties and insurance threaten the event. Members say the parade, which has been a tradition for over 50 years, is key to preserving Black cowboy heritage.  ABC7

  • A small 2.6 earthquake shook the East Bay hills early Sunday morning near the Clark Kerr Campus in Berkeley — the tremor occurred at 5:05 a.m. — and no damage was reported.  SFGate

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The U.S. Justice Department filed a lawsuit against the Palestinian-owned Jerusalem Coffee House for asking Jewish customers to leave after noticing their religious symbols, and owner Fathi Abdulrahim Harara denied the charges. His lawyers and community supporters argued that the suit misrepresents the incident—claiming it is a tactic to attack a space that unites people.  Oakland Voices

  • The Bay Area housing market fell about 2% from last year, but San Francisco home sales grew 5% as buyers show renewed hope and hope driven by AI companies.
