  • A new interactive tool from the Bay Area Housing Finance Authority shows that between July 2023 and June 2024, Alameda County had the Bay Area’s third-highest eviction rate at 2.3% as tenants in East Oakland’s 94605 ZIP code faced frequent eviction lawsuits due to missed rent payments—highlighting ongoing challenges in tenant legal representation.  The Oaklandside

  • Oakland is hosting a busy week of arts events starting Saturday, Aug.9 with the Laurel StreetFair World Music Festival taking over MacArthur Boulevard and a Blues benefit at Eli’s Mile High Club to help a local venue facing financial troubles.   • Twenty-four whales died in the Bay this year, including 8 gray whales from ship strikes—and local scientists say many more deaths may have gone unreported. Environmental groups and Rep.   • Former San Leandro city manager Fran Robustelli filed a lawsuit in Alameda County Superior Court accusing council members Victor Aguilar and Bryan Azevedo of pressuring city leadership to declare a homelessness emergency—an action that may have benefited a tiny home company owned by Oakland businessmen David and Andy Duong.  KTVU
