GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The city held a groundbreaking ceremony today to begin the Maia Correia Bikeway—an effort to boost bike safety along Lakeshore Avenue near E. 18th Street where four-year-old Maia Correia died two years ago in a collision. Officials, family members, and safe streets advocates gathered as construction is set to start this summer to help prevent future tragedies.  The Oaklandside
  • Governor Newsom signed two bills last month to let some new building projects in urban areas skip the usual review of their impact on nature—this change lets projects on less than 20 acres move ahead faster.
