- ➤ A family in Oakland is mourning 19-year-old Zion Greenwood who was shot dead after midnight April 4 at his father's apartment on 14th and Filbert streets—police later recovered a 9mm handgun blocks away as the suspect, a convicted felon, remains at large while family members urge anyone with information to call 911. - ➤ Republic Services trash collectors began a work stoppage Tuesday to support striking workers in the Central Valley and New England, leaving trash on many Bay Area curbs — residents in El Sobrante now drive to a dumpster drop-off.
