- ➤ Oakland Zoo officials evacuated visitors out of caution after a nearby fire quickly spread, and firefighters answered nearly 300 calls over the Fourth of July weekend for incidents including a warehouse blaze, illegal fireworks, injuries and property damage—such as a damaged duplex that lost two dogs. - ➤ Golden State forward Kayla Thornton was chosen as the team’s first-ever All-Star reserve on June 22, a milestone in her 10th season where she has started all 17 games and leads with 14.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.
