- ➤ On Wednesday, Sun Moon Studio in West Oakland earned a Michelin star after operating for just over one year (its recent opening) and Chefs Alan Hsu and Sarah Cooper expressed their honor at the local support. It is the second Oakland restaurant on the Michelin list, while Enclos in Sonoma received two stars and a Green Star (awarded for its sustainable efforts). KTVU
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Friday, June 27th, Oakland police reported that rideshare drivers were targeted in three robberies and attempted carjackings near 46th Avenue and Foothill Boulevard—two juveniles were arrested in two of the incidents as police continue to search for a third suspect. ABC7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ After a judge blocked an earlier effort in November, Oakland officials announced they will rename the airport to Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport. The Port said its plan will be presented on July 10 and take effect on July 24—officials estimate the change will cost about $150,000 and maintain the OAK identifier. San Francisco Chronicle
- ➤ Mayor Barbara Lee appointed two new members, Alvina Wong and Derrick Muhammad, and reappointed Barbara Leslie to the port board that runs Oakland's shipping, waterfront property, and airport operations. The City Council will vote on the appointments July 1. The Oaklandside
- ➤ On Thursday night, BART restored service through the Transbay Tube after a technical problem halted trains between Oakland and San Francisco for about 30 minutes + riders were advised to try an AC Transit bus while extra trains are planned for Pride weekend to help move parade crowds safely.
