Good morning, Oakland.

A Great Good Place for Books, a beloved independent bookstore in Oakland’s Montclair Village, will close its doors on Sunday, June 14 due to financial challenges and declining foot traffic.

The city has delayed construction of a mile-long protected bike lane next to Lake Merritt until spring 2027 — workers found serious pavement base damage requiring a redesign.

The project, initiated after a four-year-old’s fatal crash, will resume construction later this month with revised plans.

Oakland Roots propose converting their Alameda training facility into a modular stadium seating up to 8,000 fans for soccer matches, youth sports and adult leagues.

The city will review the plan at the June 22 Planning Board meeting while the club pursues a permanent home at Howard Terminal.
