  • A federal appeals court ruled that two Oakland police officers are not immune from liability for a 2022 unauthorized high-speed chase that killed a bystander and injured others near a taco truck—allowing the victim’s family to continue their lawsuit for due process violations.  The Oaklandside

  • Triplets from Oakland—Ke’ale, Maile, and Makana—graduated summa cum laude from San Diego State University with degrees in integrated marketing and communications and will soon start remote jobs at Power Digital Marketing as social media specialists.   • The Oakland Police Department faces rising overtime expenses due to staffing shortages and ongoing crime concerns while the city struggles with a large budget deficit.
