- ➤ Children’s Fairyland turns 75 and is celebrating with an exhibit at OMCA that features handcrafted miniatures by local Bay Area artists, memorabilia, and rare artifacts from longtime puppet theater director Randal Metz. - ➤ Only 36% (about 90,000) of Oakland’s 250,000 registered voters cast ballots in the special mayoral election, which is much lower than the 52% in 2022 and 69% in 2018. Local leaders say that voting barriers and low outreach in some neighborhoods may have played a role and call for better engagement in future elections. The Oaklandside
- ➤ After three days of counting, Barbara Lee leads the mayoral race with 53% of the votes while Loren Taylor has 47%—mail-in ballots will be processed over the next few days and final results may take weeks.
