- ➤ Scientists from the California Academy of Sciences and the Presidio Trust reintroduced the Silvery Blue butterfly—a close relative of the extinct Xerces blue butterfly—to the restored coastal habitat. They have tracked the butterflies since late February (eggs from last spring might have become pupae in mid-March or may turn to adults by May) as part of efforts to revive an important pollinator.
