CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A frustrated Oakland gas station owner urged police to act after his Shell Station on Upper Broadway in Rockridge was hit for the sixth time in two weeks by smash-and-grab robbers—video showed a car repeatedly ramming the building and stealing cash and a safe—while police said they were investigating. - ➤ Supporters of mayoral candidate Loren Taylor ran a video ad with a fake Oaklandside headline that falsely linked Barbara Lee to tax issues, while union-backed mailers accused Taylor of being a City Hall insider. - ➤ On March 20th, the National Transportation Safety Board released a report urging bridge owners to assess the risk of collapse from vessel strikes on 68 bridges in 19 states, including six in the Bay Area. The report followed the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore and recommended that federal agencies help guide safety improvements — a step to prevent similar incidents. KTVU
