  • The Kaiser Center for the Arts in Oakland reopened in January after a two-decade closure — following a $100 million renovation — and welcomed community members with local performances. The venue will soon host the Bay Area Black Comedy Competition and Festival from Feb. 10-12.  Oakland Voices
  • Green Day is set to open the Super Bowl LX pregame this Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara — bringing Oakland’s punk rock spirit to a live broadcast at 3 p.m. Pacific with acts like Charlie Puth, Brandi Carlile, and Coco Jones.  The Oaklandside

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • BART plans to close ten stations and run trains every 30 minutes starting next January if voters reject a bailout this November. The rail agency will open public feedback on Feb. 12 and may cut an additional five stations in a future phase to address a $400 million deficit.  San Francisco Chronicle

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health officials in the Bay Area warn residents after nearly 40 people have been poisoned by death cap mushrooms this winter, including four fatalities and severe cases requiring liver transplants. The warning was shared at local events at Tilden Nature Area & through multi-language outreach to help prevent more cases.  San Francisco Chronicle

  • Levy Restaurants previewed a Bay Area menu for Super Bowl LX at Levi's Stadium featuring a $180 beef shank burger, sourdough cinnamon bun and other local treats prepared over 2½ years; the stadium will serve 70,000 fans on Sunday.  San Francisco Chronicle
