  • Flour + Water Hospitality Group opened its first East Bay location in Oakland yesterday on the ground floor of The Lark Uptown, hiring 35 locals and offering menu items exclusive to the shop while serving its slow-fermented pizza crafted from its North Beach recipe.  KTVU
  • Moxy Hotel on Telegraph Avenue, opened in spring 2021, has stopped taking reservations & closed its bar after defaulting on a $35 million loan last summer. It remains unclear how many employees will be affected.  KTVU
  • Sequoia Diner, loved for its award-winning breakfast, is changing hands in mid to late February—new owners promise to keep its familiar charm and retain most of the staff. Former owner Andrew Vennari said the sale lets him focus on his health and family.  The Oaklandside
