- ➤ Last Friday, Jan. 9, Oakland’s Venezuelan community was shaken as texts alerted them to Maduro’s capture near a military zone in Venezuela; many now worry about how the U.S. intervention might affect their families back home. The Oaklandside
- ➤ A celebration of life for legendary coach John Beam will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Henry J. Kaiser Center for the Arts, with ABC7 broadcasting live. Beam, who coached for 40 years, died last November after being shot at Laney College. ABC7
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Starting with March statements, PG&E will list a separate base service charge for grid and maintenance costs, averaging ($24 per month), which may lower bills for heavy users but raise costs for low consumers as required by state law. SFGate
